Anxiety and Your Life
Anxiety and its accomplice, avoidance, show up in many forms: Anxiety can show up as dread and overwhelm. It becomes difficult to do the smallest of tasks on a project that is important to you. You can't find a way to start to do it so you don't. Perhaps you tell yourself you're too tired so you watch TV or play video games. The important project is still there and, as much as you try to avoid it, it becomes harder not to think about it. Anxiety can show up as isolating. Going out with people may seem unbearable and it seems much easier just to stay at home. Perhaps you don't like all the crowds, or the noise, or it seems you just don't know how to be social anymore. You don't want to embarrass yourself or you don't want to get irritated with others. So, you just stay home. Anxiety can show up with 'anxiety attacks.' Your heart starts to race, your breathing is difficult, you feel lightheaded or dizzy, you feel nauseous and you're shaking. It's as if you're about to have a heart attack or go crazy and you just want to run, hide or somehow get away. You try everything you know to push away these feelings but they come back. The feeling is overbearing and uncontrollable and you just do not know what to do. Although anxiety can show up in many ways in your life. You do not need to be controlled by it anymore. I can help you create a new relationship with your thoughts and emotions and help you build the life you want. Call me at 808-778-5755 to set up an appointment. |
