As we grow in our scientific understanding of the mind and our bodies, it has become clear that our minds and bodies work together as one. What this means is that our thoughts and feelings have an effect on our physical health (e.g., anxiety leading to digestive problems) and our physical health has an effect on our thoughts and feelings (e.g., heart disease bringing on depression).
Additionally, our behaviors can have an impact on our physical health (e.g., sleep, diet, alcohol & tobacco use, and treatment compliance). Each area of concern can be addressed through behavioral health therapies. With behavioral health treatment, you can learn ways to support your health and live your life fully.
In integrated behavioral health care, I work with your medical practitioner to coordinate your care and provide an integrated approach to your health care. In this way, you are better able to achieve the level of healing necessary for an optimum health outcome.
